While Amazon’s soon-to-open Bakersfield Distribution Center, along with its projected 1400 new jobs, grabs the headlines, the truth is that local career opportunities extend well beyond this online giant. Kern County has seen tremendous growth in entry-level and management positions within the industry, growth that seems destined to continue well into the foreseeable future.

ROC/CTEC is all about exposing young students to various occupations and helping them discern a meaningful career. Oftentimes our students can immediately take entry-level employment in their field of choice, but other times the career trek requires additional education, training, or even attaining a certain age.

This year, for the very first time, ROC will host the SkillsUSA California Region 2 Conference. On February 22, 2020, 1600 students from Central California will attend the conference, showcasing their skills in over 100 different contests. To pull this off we will need over 200 community volunteers!
