Kalah Kohfield-Stout with the Kern High ROC FFA chapter showed her two lambs, Petal and Felix in this year's Kern County Fair. During the Suffolk Market Show Kalah placed 2nd in both her classes and qualified to compete in the final drive for Champion Suffolk. Congratulations Kalah!

One of the tenants of the ROC is to put students in real world situations that allow them to learn the skills that will help them develop into young professionals. Recently the students in the Vet Tech program with the guidance of their two instructors, Dr. Hudek and Ms. Rogers, had an opportunity to put that practice into play.

Recently the Regional Occupational Center (ROC) had seven students qualify for national competitions through the SkillsUSA organization. SkillsUSA is a national students leadership organization focused on closing the skills gap in the American workforce.

Having just earned his certificate from ROC's Pharmacy Tech program, Luis Pineda was ready for the next STEM challenge. He was one of the 10% of applicants to be selected to participate in this year's 'REVS UP' summer program at CSUB.

Next year will be a busy one for ROC! In addition to building a new campus in SW Bakersfield, the original campus will be expanded. New programs slated to open during the 2019-2020 school year include Construction, Cosmetology, and Culinary Arts. Auto Tech and Vet Tech will also see their program areas updated.

Congratulations to the 7 high school seniors who were selected for the 2018 ROC scholarship so they are better able to further their college career. Here is a brief look into each of their plans after they walk the stage next week ...

As you explore our website and tour our school, one thing becomes abundantly clear: ROC is like no other school you've ever attended. The hands-on career technical education you receive is as valuable to those headed to college as it is for those interested in the military, trade schools, or wishing to go straight to work.

The Housing Authority of the County of Kern has been a long-time partner of ROC's Administrative Assistant program. As one of the program's top internship sites, they have had a hands-on role in the training and development of tomorrow's business workforce.

Congratulations to our latest ROC students who were able to successfully convert their classroom internship into a paid job. Clearly their hard work and dedication showed these employers they have the right stuff.
