Program Description
Supply chain logistics is a rapidly growing industry in the greater Bakersfield area. With our close proximity to I-5 and the ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach, Kern County is quickly becoming home to numerous distribution centers that offer employees many opportunities to move up the career ladder.
This program provides students with essential knowledge, skills, and experiences related to career opportunities in warehouse, distribution, logistics, and transportation. Students will learn and work in realistic environments using industry-standard equipment and procedures, as well as have opportunities to obtain information through industry field trips and guest speakers.
Students will actively engage in the processes of receiving, order-picking, receiving, and inventory control, as well as the operation of numerous types of material handling equipment. In addition, students will be instructed in UAV flight navigation, industry law and regulations, and safety regulations, as well as mission planning procedures, environmental factors, and human factors in the UAV industry.
Certifications offered to students completing the Logistics & Distribution program include:
Logistics & Distribution students should have average or better math skills.
Students earn 15 units of elective credit each semester toward their high school graduation.
College prep course. Meets area "G" approval for UC admission.
