This is an exciting, high-energy class that provides students with the fundamental concepts of video production and theories of film and cinema. Students will explore all aspects of the visual medium while building fundamental skills in videography, editing techniques, and concepts of lighting and audio. This project-based class allows students to push their creativity while writing, producing, and directing commercials, short films, music and demonstration videos, social media content, and a number of public service announcements.
Students clean and operate industry-standard equipment including Sony and Hitachi cameras, tripods, lighting boards, and our audio booth and control room complete with a For-A HVS-100 video switcher and the Class X character generator capable of producing professional video content. Drone safety and usage is also included in the curriculum, as well as editing instruction on a variety of software.
Our program encourages students to study the history of cinema, enter film festivals and numerous competitions, and build leadership and communication skills in our state-of-the-art CTEC facility.
Students earn 15 units of elective credits toward their high school graduation. Meets area “G” approval for UC admissions.
