With Kern County’s emphasis on oil, agriculture, and manufacturing careers, welding is a high-demand job skill that will benefit you for years to come. ROC’s highly-regarded welding program teaches you basic welding techniques and worksite safety.  Students will also build on their skills, applying the basic principles of cutting, grinding, and welding various metals. 

 

About the Teacher:

Cruz Solano has 15+ years of job experience in Welding/ Metal Fabrication in the oilfields, industrial, commercial, and refineries. He is a SMAW / STAW / GTAW / BRAZING Certified Welder and has 7+ years of experience with local Union 460 as a Certified Journeyman Pipefitter/Welder. His previous jobs include Pipefitter, Welder, Rig Welder, Forman, and General Foreman. Mr. Solano has also completed coursework Industrial Technology in Welding at Bakersfield College. He is married with three sons and enjoys traveling with family and exploring local Kern County.
