Automotive Collision & Refinishing Technology
Program Description
The ROC Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technology program prepares students for careers in the automotive collision repair industry. It combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in areas such as vehicle structures, damage analysis, refinishing techniques, safety procedures, and industry regulations. Students gain practical experience in a dedicated collision repair lab or shop, using tools and equipment to work on real-world repair projects. Upon completion, students are equipped with the skills to pursue entry-level positions as collision repair technicians, paint technicians, estimators, or further their education in the field.
Overall, the program provides a comprehensive foundation in collision and refinishing technology, emphasizing employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and customer service. It prepares students for a rewarding career in the automotive industry, where they can contribute to the repair and restoration of vehicles and meet the demands of this growing field.
Collision & Refinishing students learn:
- Proper safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- An understanding of collision repair terminology, tools, and equipment.
- Utilize measuring and diagnostic tools to assess collision damage and make appropriate repairs.
- Surface preparation techniques, such as sanding, masking, and blending.
- Removal, replacement, and repair procedures for structural and non-structural parts.
- Application of different surface coatings, including primers, paints, and clear coats.
- Damage assessment and estimating using CCC One Industry Software.
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills in a collision repair shop environment
