This past weekend, students from ROC/CTEC’s Digital Marketing & Media Design (DIMA) program had the opportunity to showcase their creative talents on one of Bakersfield’s biggest stages, the Beautiful Bakersfield Awards, hosted annually by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber.
The DIMA program was invited to create a digital art display for the event, which featured a large LED wall installation designed to highlight student work. The display showcased original digital art pieces created by students Aileen U. and Annabell E., whose vision and creativity brought color and energy to the awards ceremony.
Reflecting on the experience, student designer Aileen U. shared, “It was so exciting to see our work displayed at such a big community event.”
Behind the scenes, the project came to life with the help of Walter Suazo, Todd Bentley and Spencer Lawhon, who worked alongside the program to build and operate the LED wall. Their technical expertise ensured that the students’ artwork was displayed in a dynamic and professional format for the hundreds of community members in attendance.
ROC/CTEC and the DIMA program would like to extend a special thank you to Kim Price and the team at the Greater Bakersfield Chamber for making this collaboration possible and for continuing to support student learning experiences that bridge education and industry.
The evening was not only a celebration of Bakersfield’s achievements but also a moment to spotlight the talent, innovation, and hard work of local high school students preparing for careers in digital media, design, and marketing.
