“Got the Dot” Leadership Graduation Celebration

Students learned about the facts surrounding organ donations from a specially created curriculum and guest speakers, then created Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) sharing that knowledge with their peers, while letting people know where to register to get the pink dot on their driver’s license, signaling their decision to be an organ donor. The competition also included a presentation in front of a panel of judges, as well as a class viewing party and graduation celebration.

The first place award in the AM class went to Leetha Lobos, Sophia Barron, and Jasmine Roberts for their video titled “Got the Dot on the Spot”...

In the PM class, first place honors were awarded to Jose Acosta, Jacob Rath, and Colin Uzih for “Take Action.” ...

Each first place team member received a scholarship for $500.00 for their work. Everyone who completed the JJ’s Legacy Leadership and Scholarship program received Certificates of Competition recognizing their efforts from JJ’s Legacy, Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh, State Senator Shannon Grove, and Congressman David Valadao. Mayor Goh stopped in to congratulate the PM students on their efforts and to applaud their hard work and creativity.
