Mack lays it on the line

Central Valley Truck Center, the local dealer of Volvo Mack trucks gave Ag Diesel Mechanic and Auto Tech students much to ponder on a recent trip to ROC. The discussion included opportunities that exist in diesel repair, as well as advancement opportunities into shop supervision and sales.

Of course it all begins with ROC, and the students were presented with the criteria and expectations should they come to Central Valley Truck Center for their upcoming internship. From there, successful interns are prime candidates for Mack's apprenticeship program.

Indeed, manufacture apprenticeship programs can help students get a foot in the door and the fact that students have obtained entry-level skills and expressed a willingness to learn the industry while still in high school can only bolster their entry into this competitive, but lucrative field.

ROC thanks Central Valley's service manager and their lead tech (himself a 2003 ROC Auto Tech graduate), and Mack's head of training (who came down from Fresno) for their continued investment in our programs and our students.

And, of course, for bringing that really cool rig to our campus!
