Evening Nail Technician

Program Description
By choosing the Nail Technology career path you will learn to provide professional nail services by applying consumer health and safety, infection control procedures, customer relations skills and learning about the salon business. The nail care course at the Regional Occupational Center consists of 400 clocked hours covering all phases of manicuring and pedicuring mandated by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Bureau. Licensing is a requirement to operate as a nail technician in any capacity in the state of California.
NOTE: To meet the clocked hourly requirements of the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology students cannot be absent for more than 7 days during the entire school year. In addition, this class has an online component outside of the classroom. It is a time commitment of an extra 3-4 hours per week, some of those hours are practical hours. Finally, students will be required to practice nail services outside of class. Becoming a nail technician requires continuous practice, perfecting skills like acrylic application requires extra practice outside of class time.
Upon completion of all the required curriculum and clocked hours the student will receive proof of training to be able to apply for their licensing exam. There is a fee required for the licensing examination.

Things to Consider:
Nail Technician students should have solid communication skills and average or better in math and writing skills. Be open to stepping out of your comfort zone to be able to communicate and do services on the customers. Students must have an interest in working with the public and within the industry. Dress code must be followed – Black Shirt (no logos) a smock will be provided, Jeans or Black pants no leggings, black closed toed shoes.
