Entree to Employment a Delicious Success

The programs that were featured this time were Fire Technology, Nursing Assistant, Veterinary Technology, and Automotive Technology. Students in these pathways were selected by their instructors because of their performance thus far in the program and their expressed desire to work their way through the career path.

The event was held at the BC Renegade Room and started with an hour of networking and hors devours. Additional attendees were BC and ROC instructors, industry partners, and table facilitators who were staff from both schools.

After the networking hour, the guests were seated at tables by the given pathway and enjoyed a meal provided by the BC Culinary Arts program. The conversation at each of the tables centered around the career path, which provided the students with the opportunity to get in-depth advice from professionals in their field of interest.

This was the third time the two schools have partnered on this event. Given the success of this evening, the plan is to continue to put together this opportunity for students one time each semester and rotate through the different programs that are highlighted.

Additionally, once the ROC opens its own Culinary Arts program in 2019, the plan is to take turns hosting the event between the two schools. Partnerships with postsecondary education and industry are a foundation of the ROC mission and the Entree to Employment event is a great example of the benefits that partnerships have for our students.
