ROC student ambassadors greeted the guests as they arrived and some of them had a chance to tell their stories to the visitors during the morning informational session.
Guests then took a tour of the campus, visiting several classes. One guest remarked, “The training opportunities are amazing for the students and all of the students seemed very engaged.” Students in each classroom greeted the guests and took the opportunity to share what they were learning and why they chose to attend ROC.
Partnerships are a key part of the success of the ROC program. This event served as a great catalyst to developing new partnerships. Another visitor stated, “I am impressed with the dedication to CTE (Career Technical Education) classes and the future of industry in Kern County.”
The ROC has several new programs coming in the near future, including Logistics & Warehousing, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, and Construction Trades. Developing strong industry partnerships and postsecondary education partnerships will be a critical part of the success of those programs.
The ROC is committed to providing high quality career education for students across a wide range of industry sectors. The focus on partnerships with industry to provide work-based learning opportunities for students such as guest speakers, industry field trips, and internships is an important part of all the ROC programs.
Furthermore, postsecondary education partnerships allow students the opportunity to start a pathway at ROC and continue at the college or university level upon high school graduation. With the expansion of program offerings at the ROC and the addition of a second campus, CTEC, new partnerships are critical to be able to continue to offer a high quality training experience for students.
Thank you to all who participated in this year's Principal Partners Day. The community is encouraged to tour our facility throughout the year via our ROC Connection Tours held the 2nd Tuesday of the month. We'd love to have you see how we are preparing our youth for tomorrow's workforce.
