Students in CTEC’s Metal Fabrication program recently had the opportunity to learn from industry professionals Josh Bradley of Barnes Welding Supply and Matthew Bicknell of United Abrasives. The guest experts provided an in-depth overview of essential tools, equipment safety, and the products commonly used in fabrication shops.
The visit included live demonstrations showing how different materials and supplies can impact the quality and performance of metal fabrication projects. These hands-on examples helped students connect classroom instruction with real-world applications, reinforcing the importance of proper technique, tool selection, and safety protocols in professional fabrication environments.
By interacting with experienced professionals, students gained practical insight into industry standards and best practices, enhancing their understanding of how fabrication shops operate. The experience also allowed students to ask questions, observe professional workflows, and see firsthand how attention to detail affects project outcomes.
Industry demos like this give Metal Fabrication students valuable exposure to the tools, materials, and methods they will encounter in their future careers, complementing their hands-on training and preparing them for success in the manufacturing and fabrication workforce.
