CTEC Logistics and Distribution students recently went behind the scenes at the Dreyer’s plant for an inside look at how large-scale logistics and distribution operations function. The tour gave students the opportunity to explore the many roles that support Dreyer’s day-to-day operations and see how products move efficiently through the supply chain.
During the visit, students observed operations in action, including Dreyer’s new state-of-the-art warehouse racking system. This hands-on experience allowed students to connect classroom learning with real-world applications, gaining a better understanding of inventory management, warehouse organization, safety procedures, and the technology used in modern distribution centers.
The tour also provided valuable insight into the wide range of career paths available within the logistics and distribution industry, from warehouse operations and transportation to supply chain coordination and management. Engaging directly with professionals helped students see how teamwork and efficiency are essential to keeping operations running smoothly.
Students wrapped up the visit with a sweet treat, enjoying ice cream as a fun way to celebrate a day of learning and exploration. Experiences like this reinforce the importance of career technical education by exposing students to real-world environments and helping them prepare for future careers in logistics, distribution, and supply chain management.
