Students Are Directing Change

Directing Change is a statewide effort to prevent suicide, to reduce the stigma of mental illness, and to promote mental health and wellness. Throughout the year, this organization hosts a variety of contests giving students a voice and a way to lift others with their films, original music, written works, and art.

In September 2022, the contest focused on the topic, “Find Your Anchor”.  More than 200 entries were received from across the state and several CTEC students were honored for their work.

1st Place, Written Works Category: Aaron Romero

Poem titled: “Broken Seashells”

Award: $300.00 gift card

 

1st Place, Film & Music Category: Martin Acevedo, Deangelo Fisher, and Dennis Paclijan

Original Song titled: “Find Your Anchor”

Award: $300.00 gift card

 

Three other teams from the CTEC Video Production program received Honorable Mention in the first-ever Directing Change TikTok Challenge, with honorees receiving $20.00 gift cards for their effort.
