Sharped Dressed Professionals

Enter JC Penny. The 117-year-old retailer’s national rollout of their Suit-Up Event, where they partner with local colleges to prepare students to properly dress for internships, job interviews, and career success, first launched locally last year.

This year the Valley Plaza store and CSU Bakersfield organizers also invited students from ROC’s six business programs to participate. ROC’s business students, although still high school juniors and seniors, have a professional dress code required of them throughout the week.

CSUB and ROC students were able to take advantage of special clothing discounts, a measuring station, free hair and make-up consultations, and discounted headshots from their professional photographer during the event. CSUB also provided their spirit squad and additional volunteers to keep the atmosphere festive.

Best of all, students learned first-hand that the way one presents themselves has a definite impact on both their self-confidence and how those in the business world will perceive them.

Thank you to JC Penny and CSUB for imparting these great lessons, and for providing wonderful discounts and services, to our students.
