New Year New Vision New Opportunities

... the ROC opened its doors to the largest class of students in the history of the school this year with over 2,000 students registered on the first day. A sea of students attended the student orientation last week and the new students were informed about the variety of opportunities they would have this year to help them on their career path.

Equally exciting was the launch of the new evening program at ROC. During this pilot year, eight ROC programs are now being offered during the evening hours to accommodate for high school students who could not fit the course into their regular schedule as well as to working adults. Nearly 150 students attended the first week of evening class, most arriving by school bus.

Finally, there are several new career education opportunities at ROC this year thanks to the opening of several new facilities on the campus. Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Veterinary Technology, Auto Tech, and Construction Trades students all get the excitement of being the first to train in the newly constructed labs. Many of these new facilities have a student run business that will be open to the public this year, such as the salon, restaurant & bakery, auto shop, and the veterinary training hospital.

Any community members who would like to tour the campus can go on one of the community tours that is offered at ROC on the second Tuesday of the month from 12:00-12:45. Just show up a few minutes early and register in the ROC office.

This is sure to be an exciting year on the ROC campus. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of opportunities that will develop their career readiness skills and technical skills that will help get them started in successful careers. There will be hundreds of success stories created this year at ROC by the students, and the ROC staff is ready to help them along the way.
