This special event was held May 10, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This monumental event displays a year of education and preparation for career success. 100 plus community members came to campus to conduct a formal mock interview with each student.
Students were asked to have their ROC resume with them and to dress appropriately for the interview within their industry training area. This experience helps students to better understand the process of interviewing for a job and is consistently ranked (after the fact) by students as one of their favorite activities.
Students spent ten minutes being interviewed by one of the many volunteers. Each interviewer was provided a matrix which was used to evaluate the student in areas of communication, professional appearance, handshake and resume.
Following the exercise, the students were given immediate verbal feedback of their performance from the interviewer. This provided the student praise and critiques to make improvements for future interviews. The ROC students often report “they are hired” ahead of their peers. They have attributed the key to success being career preparation at ROC culminating with Mock Interview Day.
