Seniors partying with seniors ... and we have the photos!

ROC Ambassadors (okay, they are mostly high school seniors, with a few juniors thrown in for good measure) hosted a Spring Fling at Brookdale @ Riverwalk Senior Residence Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 11 AM-2PM.

It was an outdoor lawn event where students and senior citizens had an interactive day of spring activities including painting, gardening, lawn bowling, corn holing and croquet, complete with music in the air.

ROC Ambassadors selected to have a community service day to honor seniors. The students chose to share a spring day just to “have fun together”.  Some Ambassadors originally thought it would be cool to have a theme “May the 4th Be With You”, celebrating Star Wars and superheroes. This would have coincided with the release of the new Avengers’ movie.  Other’s felt that since spring is prom time, why not have a fling of spring festivities with music. The idea of going out to prom or festival may not be as expedient for Golden Age Seniors as it is for High School Seniors so the Ambassadors decided to take the event to Brookdale at Riverwalk.

It was a successful event. One resident at age 101 painted a portrait of Rhianna, the Sport’s Med ambassador.  Mrs. Cox and Mr. Little were pleased with the event.  “Our students were awesome!”
