Dental Assistant

Program Description

Becoming a Dental Assistant can be a rewarding career. ROC’s Dental Assistant program is a one-year course that delivers career-focused instruction. Students are prepared for an entry-level position as a dental assistant with training in patient care, instrumentation, laboratory duties, restorative procedures, as well as dental specialties. Hands on training and classroom instruction prepares students with the industry relevant skills that they will need to perform while in community classroom and on the job.

Dental ASSISTANT STUDENTS LEARN:

  • Procedures for taking vital signs
  • Chairside assisting
  • Instrumentation
  • Mixing cements
  • Taking and pouring up study models and opposing impressions
  • Restorative procedures/specialty procedures
  • Preventative dentistry
  • Head and neck anatomy/ tooth anatomy
  • Medical emergencies
  • Charting
  • Tooth Identification

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES

Certifications offered to students completing the Dental Assistant program include:

  • Health Care Provider CPR Certification
  • Radiology Certification
  • 8-Hour Infection control Certificate
  • HIPAA Certificate
