Careers in retail and professional sales are some of the fastest-growing occupations in our economy and comprise a large segment of our workforce. In addition, careers in retail management and professional sales can be quite lucrative. Here is your chance to gain skills in business communication, teamwork, sales presentations, and business professionalism.
The Retail Sales program is a one-semester course that will give you the training and experience you need to launch a career in sales. An internship at a local business is an integral part of the course and a dress code is required for students training in stores. Mathematics is also stressed through class instruction and practical retail sales applications.
NOTE: Retail Sales is offered only during ROC's PM session (11:45am to 2:45pm). Students requiring an AM session class may wish to consider Fashion Merchandising.
Retail Sales students should have average or better skills in reading and writing and math. Students should also have a solid attendance record and are accountable to both the KHSD and their assigned store’s dress code.
Students earn 5 units Math and 10 units of elective credits each semester toward their high school graduation.
College prep course. Meets area “G” approval for UC admission.
This is a career awareness class that instructs students on the basics necessary for entry-level employment. Successful Retail Sales students often pursue careers in the following:
